A Second Chance to Unlock Your Potential!
Not got the grades? Not got any offers for university?  Not sure about what to do now? Successful re-take A-Level students prove that Abbey College Birmingham unlocks potential.

Kasra wanted to be a doctor.  At his old school, he was not predicted the grades to get an offer for university.  He came to Abbey in September 2004 and enrolled on a one- term course for A-Level Biology.  He turned his B into a grade A and got an unconditional offer for Medicine at Imperial and starts in October 2006.

Jogisha came to Abbey with A-Level grades of BBB and a burning desire to study Medicine.  She embarked upon two intensive A-level retakes from September to January and a one year A-Level and gained AAA.

Rajiv’s first time grades at his grammar school were BBC and he missed his offers for Medicine.  He came to Abbey College in September 2005 and retook his A-Levels.  With Abbey, he turned his grades into AAA. Jogisha and Rajiv both have just finished their first year studies in Medicine at Queen Mary’s London.

“I can’t thank Abbey enough, Michael was wonderful, Linda was brilliant, as friends and as professionals Abbey’s teachers were brilliant.  I was nervous after last year opening my results, but the better teaching and Abbey treated us as individuals and not as numbers!”

Simone knew that her AS grades did not show her true potential or provide her with the chance to successfully apply for Veterinary Medicine.  She came to Abbey and took the advice to repeat her AS year.  She completed her A-levels with AAA and is about to commence her degree in Veterinary Medicine.

Jaspreet Matharu

“I came to Abbey College with BBC in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.  I retook and I got three As. I’m now going to be doing Dentistry at Queen Mary’s.  The teachers at Abbey are brilliant, I couldn’t have asked for more!”

Manisha Desai

“I retook my A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry and from two BBs, I now have AA. I picked up a new A level subject in one year and gained a B in Economics. The teachers at Abbey College are really supportive, they’re really friendly. I respect them but they are on your level and you can always ask for help.  I can’t wait to start Medicine at Birmingham.”

Abbey College London

An independent college established in 1985, Abbey College in London has an outstanding record in assisting students to enter highly competitive degree courses at the UK’s very best universities.

The hallmark of Abbey College students is that they are aiming to enter professional occupations in the UK or overseas after graduation from university. Maintaining continuity with its original purpose, Abbey College continues to very successfully prepare students for entry to the medical professions and from 2001-2005 nearly 50% of the 279 Abbey College students going on to university have progressed to medicine, dentistry or pharmacy. Of the other 50% the majority have consisted of aspiring engineers, bankers, accountants, entrepreneurs and lawyers who have progressed to top UK universities such as Imperial College, UCL, LSE, King’s College and Manchester. In 2005 one student was admitted to Harvard in the USA.

The success of this independent college is founded on a very high quality of teaching supported by an effective pastoral system. The latter includes a highly personalised approach to each student’s application to university with close attention paid to all aspects of a student’s application to university. In addition, Abbey College gives highly focused, specific support to students to enable them to meet specific requirements such as BMAT, LNAT and UKCAT and go on to reveal their potential in a university entrance interview situation.

An independent college for aspiring professionals that provides an excellent foundation for a student’s future best summarises what Abbey College has to offer.

Abbey College Manchester

GCSE, A-level, Key Stage 4, Sixth Form and Retakes

A-level, GCSE and Retake courses are available with over 20 subject choices.  Essential UCAS guidance and support helps students achieve a place on to the university course of their choice.

Situated in Manchester City Centre, Abbey College Manchester is easily reached by bus, tram or train. Many of our students travel in from the Wirral, Yorkshire and Cheshire.

Small classes, flexible programme are enhanced by supportive tutorials.  Rigorous study takes place within a mature college environment with regular monitoring and reporting home ensuring good communication between teachers, students and parents.

Opportunities for a fresh start and mid-course entry are available for both GCSE and A-level study in the sixth form. Easter Revision private tuition and other revision courses during the year allow external students to experience learning in modern environment and sample the Abbey way of doing GCSEs and A-levels.

Both Sixth Form and GCSE students take part in a range of extra curricular activities including millennium volunteers and charity events.  They are encouraged to become independent, responsible learners.

Many students join the college rather than go through the university clearing system.  Clearing is a time when students make a rushed choice, often with little research, and enter the university course in which they had previously been uninterested.  Retake courses provide the opportunity to take stock and improve upon the grades at both GCSE and A-level to form a firmer basis for future study and to ensure that more doors are open.
